Meet the people that put the ‘specialist’ in Kitchen, Restaurant & Bar Specialists. Our small-yet-powerful team is distributed nationwide with outposts in Burlington, VT, Austin, TX, St. Louis, MO and Baltimore, MD.
We take a creative yet pragmatic approach to our work, with a focus on developing designs and associated documentation that are of the highest quality and accuracy, all to ensure that every project we work on exceeds the expectations of everyone involved. Our depth of experience allows us to seamlessly blend in with operators, equipment purveyors, architects and interior designers.
Alec Bauer
Principal & Creative Director
A graduate of New England Culinary Institute, Alec spent his formative years cooking in American farm-to-table and fine European-style restaurants. In addition to teaching aspiring chefs back at NECI, his professional cooking tenure included positions at distinguished properties such as The Ryland Inn, Auberge du Soleil, Maison Blanche (Paris, FR) and The Four Seasons San Francisco, among others. He moved into consulting and design in 2005 and spent more than five years working with foodservice consultants, architects, engineers and equipment contractors before starting KRBS. Although he originally founded KRBS out of his garage in the San Francisco Bay Area, today he’s based in Burlington, Vermont, and lives with his family and their rescue coonhound, Beazy.
Kevin Redemann
VP of Design & Documentation
An industry veteran with more than two decades of experience in commercial kitchen design, construction and installation, Kevin brings an encyclopedic knowledge of foodservice equipment to help our clients. He leads our support team and prides himself on creating pragmatic and efficient designs with a high attention to detail. Prior to joining KRBS, Kevin worked with TriMark USA in their San Francisco and Annapolis locations where he was a designer and project manager. Kevin lives in the Baltimore area with his family, their matching chihuahuas, Dexter and Minnie, and a roly-poly cat named Ruby.
Laura Pottebaum
Senior Designer
Laura joined KRBS in 2018 after more than 15 years in architecture, where she specialized in hospitality and foodservice projects, working predominantly on the front-of-house side. Laura’s background in complex project management specific to the foodservice industry complements our in-house expertise in foodservice-equipment requirements. She lives in rural Missouri with her family and their dogs, Pixie and Mario.
Adam Lewis
Architect
Licensed in Texas and Vermont, Adam joined KRBS in early 2021 as our special-projects coordinator. In addition to his architectural experience, he brings a wealth of technical expertise to the team, including Revit and BIM coordination, enhanced visualization and the creation of efficient and clear construction documents. Adam lives with his family and their menagerie of pets in West Austin, TX.
